The other day I told Garbe that I thought of a good outing for us, but for the life of me I couldn't recall what it was!

Re: I remembered!!!!!!
Mon, March 21, 2005 - 6:07 AMI still think we should play twister by proxy (get random kids to do that actual play and we bet on the winner....we can give them a prize or something) and then do our own version of 'small plates' - tapas in a park such as green lake. We can pick a theme like a color (every food item has to have the color incorporated) or a vegetable inclusion etc. -

Re: I remembered!!!!!!
Mon, March 21, 2005 - 1:06 PMHeeheee! I forgot about the twister by proxy! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! -

Re: I remembered!!!!!!
Mon, March 21, 2005 - 7:24 PMI'm rather clueless when it come to dim sum. I tried it once but it was an awful experience. The person I was with didn't know anything either, so I'll blame them for choosing the wrong items...which they did. -

The first time I had Dim Sum it was NOT a very pleasant experience either. But, then I went to a different place with a group that knew what to choose and I loved EVERYTHING! When I worked in Seattle, some co-workers and I would have Dim Sum about once a week. But, the place we used to go to closed. -

Re: I remembered!!!!!!
Tue, March 22, 2005 - 11:09 AMWow! Those pictures are making me SO hungry for Dim Sum!!!
There's an Asian mall in Renton just east of the Southcenter area that has a supermarket were you can buy Hum Bow, shrimp wrapped in the rice paper. shumai and other stuff like that. Kind of like Uwajimya, only it just sells food. I have a steamer, so if I need a fix I'll get some of that and make it at home. But, that's a pretty poor excuse for the real thing! -

Re: I remembered!!!!!!
Tue, March 22, 2005 - 7:41 PMI have been getting the humbow from Yak's in Fremont a buch lately. That's how I remembered what my idea was. heehee -

Re: I remembered!!!!!!
Tue, March 22, 2005 - 9:57 PM::Affecting a Homer Simpson voice:: Mmmmm... Hum Bow!
I searched the web today and found a Tacoma restaurant that said it served dim sum. So, I called and got this person that hardly spoke English. I thought that was a good sign. I asked if they serve dim sum, and the woman said that they are a restaurant and not interested. So, I said that I know they are a restaurant and wanted to know if they have dim sum for lunch. She said that they serve lunch AND dinner. But, do they serve dim sum for lunch, and she said yes.
So, I drove over to the place during lunch. It was this little hole in a strip mall that did NOT serve dim sum. In fact, they just had stuff pre-made under heatlamps like in a Safeway, except the stuff at the Safeway looks better.
I emailed the food critic for the Tacoma Tribune and asked him if he knows of ANY dim sum places in Pierce County. I haven't heard back yet. -

Re: I remembered!!!!!!
Tue, March 22, 2005 - 10:11 PMYep, that's the one, and they DON'T serve dim sum. They don't even seem to know what it is. The place isn't even big enough to push dim sum carts around. It has about six little tables and no decoration. The few customers sitting at the tables were eating their orders out of styrofoam containers. Blech! -

Re: I remembered!!!!!!
Tue, March 22, 2005 - 10:25 PMWeird.
I need to ask James again where the place that he liked was. It's in Sea-town though, dude. -

Re: I remembered!!!!!!
Wed, March 23, 2005 - 9:23 AM11:00 am??? Are they serving dim sum for breakfast???? -
-
Re: I remembered!!!!!!
Wed, March 23, 2005 - 11:33 AMYeah, it's more of a brunch thing than it is straight up lunch. Most places start at around 9:00am.

I went to the House of Hong website. They serve dim sum from 10 am to 4:30 PM, with the widest selections being from 11 am to 1:30 pm. Here's the menu. Click on an item and you'll get a picture, but doing that is making me too hungry!

Re: I remembered!!!!!!
Wed, March 23, 2005 - 7:55 PMOh cool! I guess they changed it from the last time I went. It was like three or four years ago. I stand corrected! -

Re: I remembered!!!!!!
Mon, March 28, 2005 - 2:20 PMI have gone to ...crap what is the name of the place on the eastside in Bellevue on 140th across from the safeway? We used to go there for lunch a lot cuz it was 2 blocks from the office. It was pretty good but kind of pricy to be honest. Maybe we should makeshift our own dimsum night. -

Re: I remembered!!!!!!
